Medals4Mettle - Washington, DC Chapter

Welcome to the Medals4Mettle (M4M) Washington, DC Chapter page! I'm excited to represent this amazing organization in our nation's capital. M4M is headquartered in Indianapolis, IN and has a great network of chapters worldwide, with M4M DC being the latest established chapter.

M4M is a 501c3 non-profit organization and its mission is to celebrate and reward the individual and collective courage of all human beings by facilitating the gifting of marathon, half marathon, and triathlon finishers’ medals from runners to children and adults dealing with chronic or debilitating illnesses and have demonstrated similar mettle, or courage in bravely facing these challenges. Then the M4M nationwide network of physicians and volunteers awards these medals to those who might not be able to run a race, but are in a race of their own to continue to live their life.

I got involved with M4M back in December of 2011. It was then that I visited some amazingly courageous children at the Georgetown University Hospital to present them with medals I had received. It was by far one of the most gratifying things I had ever done. The smiles I saw on their faces made all the months of training worth it!

If you live in the DC metro area, feel free to contact me (doug.cassaro@medals4mettle.org) if you are interested in donating one of your finisher medals. If you live elsewhere, I encourage you to check M4M's chapter listing to find the closest chapter near you!

M4M is a different kind of charity that does not seek to compete with other charities for valuable dollars. It is our mission to work with established charitable organizations to increase exposure and expand education by providing runners with a simple way to gift their medals to others. Nearly every dollar donated goes directly to buy ribbons and pay minor expenses associated with our 501c3 public charity. If you are interested in donating the the M4M DC Chapter, you can do so on our Crowdrise page here. Every dollar helps and all donations made through M4M DC's fundraising page go directly to M4M's corporate office.

Thanks so much!
